FanDuel Predicts vs Kalshi

FanDuel Predicts is FanDuel's event-contract app, run by a FanDuel and CME Group joint venture that is a registered futures broker. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated exchange you join directly. The split is sports access and fees: FanDuel offers sports contracts in 17 states and charges a flat 2 cents per $1 of potential payout, while Kalshi's fee changes with the price and its sports contracts are unavailable in Michigan, Nevada and Washington as of November 2, 2026.

Which one fits you

FanDuel Predicts

  • Pick FanDuel Predicts if you already use FanDuel and live in one of its 17 sports states, such as California, Texas or Florida.
  • Pick FanDuel Predicts if you prefer a flat fee: 2 cents per $1 of potential payout at checkout, and the same again if you cash out early.

Kalshi

  • Pick Kalshi if you trade heavy favorites or longshots: on a position that pays $100, Kalshi's taker fee is $0.63 at 10 or 90 cents, against $2 on FanDuel at any price.
  • Pick Kalshi if you live outside FanDuel's 17 sports states, where FanDuel offers only non-sports contracts.
  • Pick Kalshi if you want to fund with PayPal, Venmo or crypto. FanDuel Predicts takes only debit cards, Apple Pay and online banking.

How each is built

Kalshi is a CFTC designated contract market that you join directly. FanDuel Predicts accounts are opened with FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a registered futures commission merchant owned jointly by FanDuel Group and CME Group. Its contracts come from CME Group and Crypto.com's CDNA markets, and Flutter said in August 2026 that all of its sports and novelty contracts will move to Crypto.com.

Fees

FanDuel charges two cents per dollar of potential payout, whatever the price. A position that would pay $100 costs $2 at checkout, and the same fee applies if you cash out early. Kalshi contracts each pay $1, and its fee schedule (effective July 7, 2026) charges takers 0.07 × price × (1 − price) per contract, rounded up. On a $100 payout, or 100 contracts, that's $1.75 at 50 cents and $0.63 at 10 or 90 cents, with no settlement fee.

Where sports contracts work

FanDuel Predicts is available in all 50 states and D.C., but sports contracts are only in AK, AL, CA, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, MN, NE, NM, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD, TX and UT. Everywhere else you get non-sports markets. As of November 2, 2026, Kalshi's sports contracts are unavailable in Michigan, Nevada and Washington. Missouri's September cease-and-desist letters named Kalshi, not FanDuel.

Accounts and funding

Both require you to be 18. FanDuel Predicts takes deposits and pays withdrawals only by debit card, Apple Pay or online banking, and payment methods saved on other FanDuel products don't carry over. Kalshi takes debit cards, bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App (deposits only), crypto and wire, with a $10 minimum deposit.

Markets

FanDuel lists game outcomes, spreads, player props, finance, culture and commodities, and its combos take up to eight football predictions. Kalshi lists sports with live props and combos, plus economic markets such as Fed rates and CPI and weather markets.
