The law in Utah
DraftKings and FanDuel both offer salary-cap DFS in Utah, which has no law specific to DFS. Underdog, Betr and Dabble offer house-style pick'em, and PrizePicks and Sleeper run peer-to-peer versions. Players must be 18 or older.
Recent changes: 2026: HB 243 added proposition bets to Utah's gambling definition (salary-cap DFS unaffected). Aug 2026: Utah won its federal case against Kalshi. Oct 8, 2026: the Salt Lake Tribune reported that Attorney General Derek Brown considers DraftKings, FanDuel, PrizePicks and similar apps illegal; no action against fantasy operators had been reported as of Nov 2. Later in October Utah sued Kalshi (Oct 20) and filed criminal charges against the company and its co-founders (Oct 28), and the CFTC sued Utah. DraftKings and FanDuel then pulled sports contracts for Utah users, Robinhood stopped new sports positions from Nov 2, and Fanatics said it would stop all trading there on Nov 4.
